When it comes to places to visit in Slovakia, this small Central European country offers plenty of fascinating choices. In my opinion Slovakia possesses the rural charm and welcoming spirit which makes it truly a great destination.
Let me now suggest you a couple of great places to visit in Slovakia!
1. Bratislava
Starting your visit with the capital is always a best way to discover how the country lives. Bratislava is a perfect city for living – not too big, cosy and innovative. It enjoys the central place on European map and can be easily reached from neighboring Vienna, Budapest and Prague. Visit Bratislava for magnificent castle and charming old town. Also make sure to visit spectacular Devin castle outside Bratislava.
2. Kosice
Kosice is the second largest city in Slovakia. The main landmark is grandiose and stunning St. Elisabeth Cathedral which is a UNESCO World Heritage. Also it represents the ideal model of typical Slovak city, – big and wide central street and smaller neighboring backstreets is how it’s planned. Kosice is gateway to Eastern Slovakia and Ukraine.

3. High Tatras
Absolutely spectacular scenery of snowy mountain peaks. High Tatras are the touristic centre of Slovakia, beautiful both in summer and winter. From Poprad you can reach them by tram that connects it with all the cities in the mountains. For the stunning mountain views go to Lomnicky peak with a cable car. Breathtaking.
4. Spiš Castle
Fantastic castle set on the hill. Perfect landmark for castle lovers. Even in a state of ruins, it keeps being one of the highlights of tourism in Slovakia. Also it is in UNESCO heritage list. It is one of the biggest European castles by area!
5. Bojnice Castle
Another fairytale destination in Slovakia. It is a Romantic castle with some original Gothic and Renaissance elements built in the 12th century. Bojnice castle is one of the most visited attractions in Slovakia. Definitely worth a visit!
