In this article, you will find tips on getting to Lviv in Ukraine!
Lviv is a tourism hotspot of Ukraine. One of the most visited cities in the country with a UNESCO-protected Old Town, Lviv has a plenty of beautiful and interesting things to offer to travelers. But first, you have to get there. Here’s how you can do it
By train
Intercity train Przemysl-Lviv
(getting to Lviv)
The best way of getting to Lviv from Europe is an Intercity train Przemysl-Lviv! Point.
It is comfortable and affordable, allowing you to avoid the lines at the border.
The only downside of such a route is that the tickets can only be bought in the cash desks across Poland and Ukraine.
Przemysl, on the other hand, can be easily reached from Krakow or Rzeszow by train.
Price: approx. 172 UAH (6 Eur) for a second class

Other train options
(getting to Lviv)
Apart from the intercity from Przemysl there are also trains going through Lviv from:
- Bratislava
- Budapest
- Moscow
- Prague
- Wroclaw
- Warsaw
Those trains are the old-school ones functioning mostly from the Soviet times. The majority of them are night trains with cabins, high prices, and low comfort.
If you see it as an option the schedule can be checked on Ukrainian Railways website
Prices differ, for Lviv-Warsaw, for example, the price is approx. 1100 UAH (38 EUR)
By bus
(getting to Lviv)
Most popular way to reach Lviv, nevertheless having some disadvantages. The main one being the border. Sometimes border crossing can take 1 hour, sometimes 3. Just so that you know.
There are different bus companies operating different routes that go through Lviv.
From Poland, you have buses going from many big cities, including Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Katowice and Poznan.
As there are various bus carriers, there are also different websites where you can buy tickets:
- Ecolines – one of the biggest European bus companies
- Flixbus – a German bus company
- LEO Express – a Czech transport company
- PolskiBus – the biggest Polish bus company
- bus.com.ua – Ukrainian website selling bus tickets of private bus companies
- Bus Radar – bus tickets comparison service
Prices differ
For example, bus Krakow-Lviv would cost approx. 14-24 EUR
My advice would be to better use the well-known carriers as FlixBus, Ecolines and LeoExpress for getting to Lviv. Reason for that is security, comfort and knowing who to contact in case anything goes wrong
From Prague, you have a Leo Express company that offers a combined train+bus ticket to Lviv at affordable prices. That is a long but relatively comfortable way of getting to Lviv as the buses are new.
By plane
